Rose City Quilters Guest Speaker

Last night I was the guest speaker for Rose City Quilters. I have been reluctant to do this in the past, but finally capitulated. I was pretty nervous beforehand, but had typed up what I was going to say and sorted out a huge number of quilts to show, and once I got started, it wasn't too bad. I think my biggest worry was that my quilts are not really of interest to most club members (being more art oriented), and I tend to enter a lot of challenges, but many came up to have a look and chat later, so that was really nice.

Chloe and Technology

Chloe Skype-ing with Sarah the other night. First time we did this, she (Chloe) ran around the table looking for Sarah! It was so funny - she responded to Sarah's voice and got quite excited. This time, a bit more savvy!

The Pink Baby Quilt is Finished

Here it is!
It started as an embroidered teddy bear on calico many years ago and just sat there in the fabric box. So, I thought, time to use you in a quilt. I had the pinks, greens and browns left over from another quilt which is waiting to be quilted, so rather than put them away (they do look nice together), I decided to use the fabric for a baby girl. It's taken me a few weeks, especially with the applique, but I'm very happy with the end result.
Measures: 44.5" x 37" (or 1130mm x 935mm), hopefully OK for a cot.

A Belated Happy New Year To You All!

It's been an absolutely beautiful day in Palmerston North today (and yesterday as well). Sun, warm temperatures and no wind! Such an unusual occurrence that it was the most talked about thing in town today.
Here are photos of my flower baskets which I planted late because of the wind. With the warmer weather and the rain they are coming along.
Here are the first flowers on our pohutakawa tree. It has been knocked back by frosts (they are frost sensitive when young) and the sheep having a nibble, but seems to be getting established at long last.
I have been busy getting books and DVD's ready for Rose City Quilter' first meeting of the year, and also working on a baby quilt - it's almost finished so a photo of that will go up soon.
