A Glimpse into a Thursday

It's raining yet again, but I walked Chloe when it was warmer and drier earlier, which makes it more enjoyable.
I finally got around to preserving some of the limes

made 2lb of tamarillos into chutney

 which unfortunately got a little burnt on the bottom of the pot, because I was distracted by this

and then there is one hogget on the wrong side of the fence - she knows that the grass is not only greener, but lusher, and I can't get her back with the others!

Another Quilt Finished - Feathers & Fans

I decided to get the quilting on this one finished, even though it's not needed until next year, so that it could be on display at the recent Rose City Quilter's Celebration of Quilts Show. It started from off-cuts from my friend, Pam's quilt, I added the cream and then she gave all the leftover pieces. Nothing was left. It is not really my colours, but I kind of like it and it is for a significant birthday next year.  I hope the person really likes it.
I loved doing the quilting. I don't normally do machine quilting with stopping and starting, but I think that the blocks called for something individual.

It's called Feathers and Fans and measures 54.5" x 60.5" (138.5cm x 154cm).

Another UFO Finished

This was going to be a 21st present, but I got talked out of giving it, so it is now finished and in the "To Sell" pile. I really liked the juxtaposition of funky pictures, bright colours and (by themselves) ugly fabrics. The border is a cotton sateen, so has a slight sheen to it.

A Table Runner

This was made from leftovers from a quilt that is waiting to be quilted - it's very big so I need to use a long-arm machine to do this. Very Parisian chic colours I think. Anyway, the pattern is by Judy Gray in Country Favourites No. 2 magazine, a 2007 edition. I think it should have been finished a day earlier, after all, the cutting out took longer than the piecing. I found that the instructions for finishing were not very good and had to have some help in figuring it out - if I was to make another one, I would add another border which extends past the prairie points and the binding would be so much easier to do. As it was, I bored myself silly fiddling around with it and I was distracted to do other things [sigh] I'm supposed to be finishing things not leaving them until later!
Measures 37.5 inches x 21 inches (95cm x 53cm). I used bamboo/cotton mix batting.
Here is a close up of the quilting:The pattern said stitch-in-the-ditch, but I can't see the point in that. This is simply stitched 1/4 inch either side of the seam line and I used both rayon and cotton thread through the needle at the same time, giving it a little bit more definition. Of course, wavy feathers in the outside border.
