Fun Photos From Today

A couple of photos to share. We have had a bumper crop of Granny Smith apples this year, so after stewing some for breakfast, I had a plate full of cores and skin. Usually this goes into the compost, but today the ewes received a treat:

Too Many Things To Do!

I've been pretty quiet in blogland, but feel that I've been running around like a chook with it's head cut off!
Trying to chip away at the final Roosters/Hens quilt - I have the central block to work on and it has over 300 pieces to applique. It didn't help that I couldn't find all the fabric for the vines and flowers, but I have since decided that it doesn't matter too much, so I am now cutting out all the pieces of the Vliesofix and ironing them onto the various fabrics. I think that quilting group will be a good time to cut the pieces out and arrange them on the baking sheet.
There are still heaps of apples, but then they are good to give to friends and family, as well filling up the freezer.
Monday, my friend and mentor, Nolan, and I took 4 wether hoggets to the sale and I received a very good price for them - thank goodness the $$ received make it more viable to have sheep now, than in the last 20 years! Today we (well actually Nolan) dagged the lambs - they need to be shorn which will help them to grow (don't ask me how, but that is what he said!). I think I will be selling most of them as I have mostly wethers.
Anyway, it was a nice morning to be on the mower. I found that the figs are starting to ripen (keep those birds away, please!) and one of our two walnuts, is getting close to dropping:

Tomorrow is my Dad's 80th birthday - it will be a great celebration and good to see him again.

Back at work today after the Christmas break. It's our busiest day with returns and shelving and with people coming in to resupply their reading fodder.
Here at home, I'm desperately trying to finish another challenge quilt for Symposium this year. Photos and entry forms have to be in Queenstown by Friday, which means I have to have them posted at the latest by Wednesday. Just a little bit more to do, so it can be photographed - at least I can finish it properly in slower time (which really means by the end of the week, because there are other things waiting).

11 Days and Counting - Not!

I feel like groaning, but the sighs are getting heavier instead. I haven't got up the Christmas tree, but last night I did clean the front porch so some decorations can go up. Just need to get something to spray and keep the spiders away, they do make it look untidy!
Tomorrow, if the weather holds - dry that is - we can get the sheep shorn and I'm hoping that it will only be a couple of hours 'cause there's only 26 to do.
One more week and then Sarah will be home. She will probably sleep for 2 days, but there is a stopover in Bangkok for 12 hours and she may get a chance to walk, rest, eat some good food, whatever! The airport there is very smart so she may not even get outside :-)
